The 8th Annual Bike Week took place May 11-18, 2019. More than ever, Bike Week included events across all of Kalamazoo County. Thanks to all the organizers, volunteers, committee members and sponsors who made 2019 such a success!

Check out the calendar below for all the Events that took place during Bike Week 2019, and check out the Announcements page for news that took place during the week until we “retire” them and our 2019 Sponsors page in the fall.

Many of us are already looking ahead and forward to Bike Week 2020. Please see our Organizer Info page for ideas and how to get involved. You are welcome to help shape and join in the week-long (“plus”) celebration! This year we will be holding a Fall Bike Celebration from September 20-22 to welcome the autumnal equinox, as well. There’s lots happening to show that our greater community is becoming even more bicycle friendly.

As the months progress between now and the next Bike Week, we will be updating the calendar to let you know about periodic planning meetings.

Mayors' City to City Ride

Join Mayors Patricia Randall of Portage and Bobby Hopewell of Kalamazoo on an eight mile bike ride as they ride in Portage, into Kalamazoo and then back to Portage. Meet at Portage Creek Bicentennial Park Trail on Milham Road. Arrive by 8:30 to register for this free ride. The ride starts promptly at 9:00. Click here to see an approximate route map.

This easy-paced ride on the first day of Kalamazoo Bike Week will highlight portions of the planned inter-jurisdictional Southwest Michigan Bikeway, the Portage trail and bike lane system, bike lanes and routes in Kalamazoo, and a scenic overlook of the proposed Kalamazoo-Portage trail connection along Portage Creek.  On-site registration and bike helmets are required; children must be accompanied by an adult.
