Kalamazoo Area Bike Week celebrates the many benefits and joys of bicycling in our greater community. It starts on the Saturday before Mothers Day and runs through the following Saturday. In 2025, Bike Week is May 10-17. Plus, May is National Bike Month, and includes Bike to Work Week and Bike to Work Day! Organizing Bike Week ramps up in January.

Bike Week underscoreS the role bicycling plays in building economically strong AND Physically & MENTALLY HEALTHY communities. Its value IS greater than any one event. OUR message for bicyclists and motorists alike is to ENJOY Life by practicing the golden rule WHILE following the rules of the road. We’RE in this together.

People are bicycling for fun, for basic transportation and to stay fit & healthy in greater numbers than ever. KBW includes many group events — others can be enjoyed with friends, solo or virtually. Many events show what our diverse and vibrant bicycling community offers throughout the year.

We start posting the current year’s events to the calendar in April. Scroll through the calendar (below) or further down this page to check them out. By late April and early May, new Events and Announcements are updated almost daily — so stay tuned. Interested in featuring an event? Check out the Organizer Info page for more information.

Best wishes for safe and happy bicycling during Bike Week and throughout the year!

Kalamazoo Bicycle Club Friday Morning Women’s Ride - Going Solo With "Lucky 13"

  • Texas Drive Park 6603 Texas Drive Kalamazoo, MI 49009 United States (map)

The Kalamazoo Bicycle Club is excited to announce its “Lucky 13 KBC Solo Rides” for your cycling pleasure. They offer a great solo riding substitute for its group rides during Bike Week, and a fun way to share your experience with others. These rides all have long histories as favorite, regular KBC Monday night, Wednesday night, and weekend rides. Some are easier, some harder and hillier. Some are paved, some have gravel mixed in. If you find a route that you like, send us you story and pictures of your ride. Tell about the route, wind and rain, flora and fauna, and dogs. We might even pick some of the stories to put in our club Pedal Press newsletter, and give out some surprise prizes for the best ones! Click https://www.kalamazoobicycleclub.org/the-lucky-13-kbc-solo-rides/ to access the Lucky 13. Now get out there and ride solo, ride with your honey, or whoever you are cooped up with.

(What follows is a description of what would normally take place during Bike Week to let the public know about one of the many riding opportunities offered by the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club during a more normal year.)

The KBC Friday Morning Women’s Ride is a weekly group ride on country roads in SW Kalamazoo County. Two groups usually ride various routes. One group rides about 25 miles at an average of 15-16 mph, the second group rides various shorter distances averaging 12-14 mph. Both groups are no drop rides.
