Kalamazoo Area Bike Week celebrates the many benefits and joys of bicycling in our greater community. It starts on the Saturday before Mothers Day and runs through the following Saturday. In 2024, Bike Week will run May 11-18. Plus, May is National Bike Month, and includes Bike to Work Week and Bike to Work Day! Organizing Bike Week ramps up in January.

Bike Week underscoreS the role bicycling plays in building economically strong AND Physically & MENTALLY HEALTHY communities. Its value IS greater than any one event. OUR message for bicyclists and motorists alike is to ENJOY Life by practicing the golden rule WHILE following the rules of the road. We’RE in this together.

People are bicycling for fun, for basic transportation and to stay fit & healthy in greater numbers than ever. KBW includes many group events — others can be enjoyed with friends, solo or virtually. Many events show what our diverse and vibrant bicycling community offers throughout the year.

Trailblazer 2022

Ride the Kal-Haven Trail for the 2022 Trailblazer for the opening event of Bike Week May. On this early ride in the spring riders can select the 34 mile Kal-Haven Trail or a road route of 25, 45, 70 or 100 miles (all road routes originate at 10th Street in Kalamazoo). Sag Stops will be attended along the Trail & optional shuttles for one-way rides may be available (early morning only). Please go to the web site for additional information.

Sponsor: The Trailblazer is hosted by Friends of the Kalamazoo Valley River Trail and Friends of the Kal-Haven Trail. The mission of these groups is to provide for expansion and maintenance of the trails and continue programming, thereby attracting more people to take advantage of the regional resources.
