Kalamazoo Area Bike Week celebrates the many benefits and joys of bicycling in our greater community. It starts on the Saturday before Mothers Day and runs through the following Saturday. In 2024, Bike Week will run May 11-18. Plus, May is National Bike Month, and includes Bike to Work Week and Bike to Work Day! Organizing Bike Week ramps up in January.

Bike Week underscoreS the role bicycling plays in building economically strong AND Physically & MENTALLY HEALTHY communities. Its value IS greater than any one event. OUR message for bicyclists and motorists alike is to ENJOY Life by practicing the golden rule WHILE following the rules of the road. We’RE in this together.

People are bicycling for fun, for basic transportation and to stay fit & healthy in greater numbers than ever. KBW includes many group events — others can be enjoyed with friends, solo or virtually. Many events show what our diverse and vibrant bicycling community offers throughout the year.

We start posting events to the calendar in April. Scroll through the calendar (below) or further down this page to check out the events. By late April and early May, new Events and Announcements are updated almost daily — so stay tuned. Interested in featuring an event? Check out the Organizer Info page for more information.

Best wishes for safe and happy bicycling during Bike Week and throughout the year!

Kalamazoo Bicycle Club's Bike Camp 2022 - Session 2

  • Portage Senior Center 320 Library Lane Portage, MI, 49002 United States (map)

Bike Camp is a five-session educational program for individuals and families to learn how to ride confidently, comfortably, and safely on roads and trails — we’re in our 16th year!

Each of the Saturday morning sessions will be a presentation about a specific aspect of bicycling or fitness followed by group training rides of various paces and distances that are led by experienced cyclists. Bike Campers at similar fitness levels and with similar distance goals will ride together. Helmets are required (as are bicycles in good working order, of course) for these Saturday morning sessions.

Class sessions are at the Portage Senior Center; group rides meet at Texas Township Park. See event website for more details regarding meeting times and locations for the sessions.
